PRP’s work on high density housing in Europe is one of three complementary strands of research carried out in 2002 into affordable housing which together seek to address the question of what works and why in relation to residential density. Commissioned by East Thames Housing Group and funded by a variety of public and private organisations this study, visited four cities: Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Paris, and studied six occupied schemes all completed within recent years. Particular housing projects that are relevant to the current density debate in London were highlighted. This report is largely based on impressions and observations made during our visits.
