Vicarage Field, Barking

Client: LagMAR Holdings
Role: Architecture

With high sustainable aspirations, this ambitious landmark mixed use development will encourage social regeneration by reconnecting the site with the surrounding area and attracting economic growth.

Part of the overall Barking Town masterplan, Vicarage Field includes the renovation of the 250,000m² shopping centre, a seamlessly linked retail extension of 5,000m² on 2 levels and a 33 storey residential landmark tower above the shopping centre. A new residential quarter will provide 260 units along a new street reconnecting it to the surrounding residential neighbourhood.

The careful consideration of public routes across and around the site will create a vibrant and distinctive environment that can accommodate a wide range of mixed use activities.

The scheme aims to generate 20% energy from renewable resources and will be connected to the Barking CHP network when it comes into effect.
