Beeston View, Iddenshall Hall, Cheshire

Role: Architecture
Value: £3 million

Beeston View is a care home which caters for frail older people with varying degrees of dementia and also provides respite care and palliative care.

This home was developed and is operated by Barchester Healthcare as one of their ‘Memory Lane’ facilities: this is an innovative, specialist kind of care delivery where staff are specifically trained not only to look after people with dementia but to enable and encourage them to live their lives to the maximum.

The design of the building complements this aspiration by offering generous personal and communal space standards (for staff as well as residents) in a non-institutional setting; single-banked corridors to maximize natural daylight and help people to find their way around the building; lots of places en route to sit, socialise and view, including a conservatory; and access to a variety of safe outdoor spaces and gardens.

The architecture is a familiar, domestic style using high quality materials appropriately designed for its setting in the grounds of a listed building and includes two converted barns providing kitchen, laundry, staff and overnight accommodation.
