Heathside & Lethbridge, Lewisham

Client: Family Mosaic
Role: Masterplanning, Landscape Architecture and Architecture

A strong sense of place and local identity is created through the masterplan which integrates new high quality public spaces with a rich existing natural environment.

The Estate is in a prime location in the Borough of Lewisham being only a few minutes away from Lewisham, Greenwich and Canary Wharf via the DLR. Sensitive design has been necessary to relate to adjacent protected nature areas, a conservation area and the busy A2. The scheme comprises 1200 mixed tenure homes will combine with commercial and community uses.

The masterplan has been developed around a linear park, creating superb amenity, enhanced ecology and important new routes linking to the surrounding urban area. A new entrance square bordered by community facilities and commercial uses will act as an important new space within the urban realm. New development has been designed to fit the site topography enabling parking to be located underground, high levels of accessibility and a strong integration of buildings with landscape. Included within the masterplan are buildings which will enjoy panoramic views across London whilst preserving existing views from the surroundings. A pedestrian priority environment and low energy design will help make this a safe and sustainable development.
