The Dell, Locke King Road, Weybridge

PRP Planning prepared a Planning Statement and co-ordinated the submission of a planning application for the redevelopment of The Dell in Weybridge, Surrey.

The application proposed 48 affordable housing units together with associated landscaping, car parking and the provision of on-site communal open space and children's play space. The affordable housing units comprised a mix of social rent and homes to be made available for first time buyers on a shared ownership basis.

PRP Planning were involved in pre-application consultation with Council Officers and local residents in the lead up to submitting the planning application.

The planning role also involved securing Scheduled Ancient Monument consent from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in respect of the Brooklands motor track. The site is situated below the embankment of the raised circuit along one of the most well preserved section of track which is still used on festival days. The development for 48 dwellings required negotiation with English Heritage to ensure that the historic setting of the circuit was not unduly affected by development.

Although the proposals received an Officer recommendation for approval, the Planning Committee refused permission for the scheme in June 2008. PRP Planning were instructed to take the decision to appeal by means of a Public Inquiry. The decision was successful at inquiry and full planning permission for the development was granted in May 2009.
