REVIT - Building Information Modelling (BIM)

PRP has an established project implementation, protocols and training programme to achieve a progressive switch over to full BIM design service delivery within two years.

PRP has adopted Revit as its selected Building Information Modelling System (BIM) solution. Revit is the BIM that is being adopted by the majority of UK industry parties such as architects, consultants, contractors and clients and has been widely adopted across the world.

The government will be insisting that all Government projects over £5 million would need to be done in BIM by 2015 and PRP welcome this vote of confidence in this exciting software which will push forward the boundaries of full collaborative working throughout the industry.

PRP has fully researched Revit before introducing the software at the workface, and are running a parallel training programme for technical staff and managers alike. Our in-house Revit experts have created a set of bespoke procedures and protocols to enable projects to be setup in a controlled manner and to realize the full benefits, and we have now completed more than 20 projects using Revit as the delivery software.

The industry has much to learn about BIM and the full benefits are far from  being utilized at present, as there are many add-on services such as

  • Coordinating information so that clash detection can be done between architecture, structure, and services eliminating problems in construction.
  • linking to environmental packages for calculation of daylight analysis, heat loss and general environmental analysis for early design through to construction information and energy performance of the building.
  • Providing information that enables easy cost analysis.
  • Providing BIM models that enable programming and sequencing of works.

To this end, PRP invite any clients, contractors and consultants interested in BIM to approach, and talk to us about how we can assist you in working together on projects, through the use of a single building model.
