Grazhdanskiy Prospekt 1-1A, St. Petersburg

Client: SPb Renovation

Role: Landscape Architecture

Architect: PRP London & Moscow

The Grazhdanskiy Prospekt 1-1A project embraces the cities aspirations to deliver sustainable development.

The scheme creates a modern interpretation of the existing 18th and 19th century urban blocks with internal courtyards, which characterises the historical centre. The proposal reinterprets the traditional courtyard building in order to create cultural relevance and to provide user friendly private residential parks within the development that is bathed in sunlight, well maintained and secure.

The masterplan places emphasis on creating a car free central street within the development in order to create a quiet, safe and pollution free environment for people to use. The landscape creates two distinct types of spaces: three private internal courtyards or gardens; and a central public square at the junction of two pedestrian friendly streets.
