The Glasgow House, Scotland

Role: Architectural Services and Building Physics

In less affluent areas, energy costs can be crippling to the community. PRP's brief was to help tackle energy poverty by building new homes at affordable prices which have lower energy demands.

It is believed that such homes will help to encourage a sense of pride and thus a feeling of hope in new and existing communities. We created a house where the hot water and heating bill will be about £100 per year.

Introducing new building materials such as the hollow core, clay block was about training opportunities and new skills, as much as seeking low cost solutions to higher performing buildings.
