Client: Countryside Strategic
Role: Urban Design
Architect: PRP
The vision for Clay Farm is to create a sensitive new urban extension to the south of the city providing family housing and community facilities. PRP was engaged by Countryside Properties to prepare an outline application including a comprehensive public realm strategy as a component of the Design & Access Statement.
A major component of the application is to bring into public use a vast corridor of public space between the city fringe and countryside. The space will combine formal sports pitches, wildlife habitat/balancing ponds and informal recreation areas. The scheme received outline planning permission in May 2008.
PRP is currently engaged in the procurement and implementation of a 1.2km mature tree avenue and associated public realm along the primary route through the heart of the development which links the city fringe to the new Addenbrooke's Hospital extension to the south.
