Roger joined PRP in 1986, became a Board Director in 2000 and Managing Director in 2007. After his involvement in both private and public sector housing, he developed a particular interest in housing for older people and others with special needs in the early 1990’s. Since then he has been instrumental in establishing PRP’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading architectural practices in this sector to the point where it now accounts for nearly 20% of the practice workload.
Under his leadership PRP has developed an extensive portfolio of projects for older people that encompass Residential Care & Nursing Homes, Sheltered Accommodation with Extra Care, Resource Centres and Continuing Care Retirement Villages as well as projects for people with learning and physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
Roger has been involved in the publication of guidance such as the Design of Residential Care & Nursing Homes for Older People by the Centre for Accessible Environments and Community Based Mental Health Facilities by West London Health Estates.
He is frequently asked to speak at conferences on supported housing and was recently invited to present a paper to the inaugural Housing Corporation Policy Seminar on ‘Design in Continuing Care Villages’.
Roger graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1977 and, after working in low cost housing, immigrated to the UK from South Africa in 1985.
