Andy joined PRP in 1985, became a Board Director in 1999 and was appointed Chairman in October 2007.
As Chairman, Andy is responsible for the growth, strategic planning and management of PRP’s five offices in London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Surrey and Moscow. He is supported by the company’s Board of 10 Directors.
His passion for place making, design excellence and sustainability is evident in his continued hands-on approach to the practice. He is lauded as a warm-hearted, pragmatic and straight-talking leader, who has a genuine concern for the communities and people that PRP aims to help through its work in regeneration, sustainability and residential design.
His experience lies in large-scale housing and masterplanning projects in urban and suburban locations nationwide for both public and private sector clients.
He has been instrumental in developing PRP’s skills in regeneration, sustainability and R&D in the London office, which he pioneered in 1994, and which has since become a large multi-disciplinary office offering architectural design, urban design, landscape design, environmental services, project management and quantity surveying for large scale complex projects.
One of the earliest ambassadors of sustainability in the industry, Andy drove the formation of an Environmental Services specialist team at PRP, which now produces practical, economic solutions for low carbon and low energy homes in response to climate change. He continues to drive the environmental debate and is a member of the UK Green Building Council Board.
A regular speaker and contributor at national and international seminars and conferences, Andy is a keen advocate of research and best practice development and is spearheading a number of research projects to advance industry knowledge of housing design standards and its impact on end users and the society at large.
Andy trained at Manchester Polytechnic and South Bank Polytechnic where he has served as a visiting tutor.
