Kim joined PRP in September 1999 and became a Group Director in 2007. He has served as primary project leader on a number of urban regeneration schemes. He has also designed successful competition proposals for the regeneration of West Haggerston in Hackney, London including the master plan for 700 residential units, community centres and public realm.
Kim is particularly passionate and skilled at urban design and masterplanning. His masterplanning experience includes large residential and mixed-use schemes like Attwood Green, Birmingham, with the first phase comprising over 1000 dwellings, retail, education and community uses. Other key projects have included driving a feasibility vision document for Druids Heath Birmingham and a Land use appraisal and masterplan for the Lyng Estate, West Bromwich for over 500 houses.
Applying research-based methodologies to good design practice is integral to Kim’s approach. He has been directly involved with Housing Option Appraisal studies including Lozells South in Birmingham for Birmingham City Council.
Other projects have included reviewing opportunities for increased residential urban capacity in line with current Government policies for the West Midland’s Local Government Agency and urban design and public realm guidance documents.
Kim trained at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and was appointed Associate Director in 2003.
