Landmark Building for Basingstoke

17.12.2001

Planning permission has been granted for a landmark building close to Basingstoke town centre which will provide 30 units of move-on accommodation for young people.

The scheme, designed by PRP Architects for local housing association Kingfisher HA, will occupy a redundant industrial site in Vyne Road, close to the main station. The development of 30 one-bedroom flats is the first of a number of schemes being prepared for planning by PRP for Kingfisher. The contractors will be Goodall Barnard, of Basingstoke.

Planners at the Borough of Basingstoke and Dean felt the design for the scheme made maximum use of the site’s potential. By providing just three car parking spaces, it also meets the Borough’s objectives of providing much needed new homes without increasing traffic congestion.
