PRP wins Civic Trust Award

PRP Architects Ltd has received a Civic Trust Award for its landscaping work for The Michael Ashcroft International Business School. The award was presented by Councillor Peter Martin, Deputy Leader and Design Champion, Essex County Council at the Essex Design Initiative Plenary Exhibition held in Chelmsford on 9 November 2005.

The Michael Ashcroft International Business School is a landmark building for Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford. PRP’s landscape team worked closely with the project’s architects to create a landscape design that reflected the high quality and strong sustainability strategy of the building.

The design creates a new public square to the south of the building that terminates the pedestrian spine generated by the new university campus. A ‘causeway’ defined by specimen trees and a bold planting strip continues the footway around the west end of the building and along the riverside, culminating in the formal refectory terrace.
