PRP’s research study, ‘High Density Housing in Europe: Lessons for London’, was commissioned by the East Thames Housing Group and published in November 2002. Its findings were launched to provide the market with a research-based study of successful high density housing in Europe, at a time when the government was intensifying its efforts to build denser housing schemes, particularly in London and the South East.
The report provides a detailed analysis of successful and attractive high density housing schemes from four north European countries. Importantly, it provides a body of case study-based work and explores the impact that design standards, building quality, lettings and management practices have in making housing successful.
PRP was responsible for the research project from conception to completion. In addition to defining the study and methodology, conducting the studies, analysing the results and drafting the report, PRP’s Graphics Team produced the final report, which East Thames Housing Group subsequently marketed and launched extensively.
The report’s findings remain highly relevant and continue to be referenced widely in discussions about high density housing.
