
The PRP team has been involved in this project since May 2003, working with Poplar HARCA and the residents to develop design proposals and a business plan for this estate in Mile End, Tower Hamlets. In December 2004, the residents voted in favour by 63% for the transfer from LB Tower Hamlets to Poplar HARCA.
The proposals include the refurbishment of 394 existing houses, flats and maisonettes, including a 20-storey tower block and the construction of 480 new homes to replace 166 system built flats. The majority of the new build homes are for sale and these will help fund the construction of the new homes for rent.
With transfer complete in August 2005, work is progressing on the completion of surveys and studies of existing structures and services, working with the client in their selection of contractors and a developer partner, advising on costs to deliver the business plan and developing proposals for both the refurbishment and new build in consultation with residents and stakeholders.
