Environmental Services

Sustainable development is now vitally important because of concerns about global climate change and environment deterioration. We all share a responsibility to create sustainable communities and developments that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable for future successive generations. Our corporate and social responsibility policy outlines our 4 key environmental objectives:

  1. Commitment to environmentally sustainable design
  2. Reducing the company’s own carbon footprint
  3. Generating new opportunities in energy efficient design
  4. Industry collaboration to enhance sustainability strategy

Integral to our strategy is the creation of neighbourhoods with a sense of place, designing dwellings for flexibility and adaptability, producing better quality homes and designing the layout and construction of buildings to conserve resources and reduce pollution. We combine all of these aspects in a holistic way.

The starting point lies in good design and we have an in-house environmental services team that provides expertise in energy modelling, renewable options appraisals and CO2 reduction technologies. The team, comprising architects, consultants and environmental engineers, specialises in developing and negotiating energy strategies and developing energy efficient designs for clients in both the private and public sectors.

Our joint venture company – PRP Zedfactor – with Bill Dunster Architects, delivers our shared goals on zero emission developments and seeks to utilise the research and development of a R&D based practice and apply it to large scale projects, in order to mainstream low carbon emission design. It combines the best qualities of a small innovative practice with the experience, depth and resources of PRP, enabling PRP ZEDFactor to drive the adoption of low energy developments in the marketplace.

PRP is a member of the Construction Industry Environment Forum, the Association for the Environmentally Conscious Building Design and ‘The Green Register’.

PRP is also a founding member of the UK Green Buildings Council. To learn more about the UKGBC, visit http://www.ukgbc.org/
