Riverside flats for Private Developer

Client: St George plc

This site of nearly eight acres is situated on the southern tip of the Isle of Dogs facing Greenwich.

The scheme, which sits on a former lead works site, has been carefully designed to ensure that almost all of the 500 dwellings have views of the river and benefit from lots of natural sunlight. Four 8-storey blocks face south over the river with double banked finger blocks extending back into the site from the river. The Easternmost blocks also contain residents’ leisure including a pool, gym and social facilities.

The contoured shape of the buildings re designed to reflect its river setting and the building’s facades are overlaid with largely transparent balconies which flood the apartments with generous sunlight.

Views through the site towards the river are a feature of the development, maintaining the link with Westferry Road to the north.

The entire project was completed in the summer of 2002.
