Specialist Housing

PRP has developed a dedicated team of architects specialising in the design and procurement of Specialist Housing and Care facilities. Our workload includes sheltered housing, extra care, care homes, accommodation for people with learning disabilities, mental health problems and physical disabilities, day centres and retirement villages. Our expertise has been employed in the remodelling of existing buildings as well as in new build design.

In the field of Extra Care Sheltered Housing, PRP has unparalleled experience, with some 20 completed schemes and a similar number either on site or in design. With such a large portfolio of schemes, we also have a broad client base which has given us a clear understanding of the various models of Older People’s facilities being developed by different providers, in both the affordable and private sectors.

We have been involved in producing several comprehensive design guides on the subject of specialist accommodation for older people, helping us to stay abreast of the relevant changes in policy and legislation. PRP also organises and speaks at a number of national conferences, supported by DOH, to discuss topical issues in this field, and our senior staff regularly speak at these and similar events.
