In the heart of The Butts Conservation Area in Brentford, PRP were granted planning permission in December 1997 for the extensive redevelopment of St Mary’s Convent Site. This marked the culmination of protracted consultations with the Planning Authority, it’s Conservation Officers, English Heritage and the local residents in the form of The Butts Society.

The overall Redevelopment proposals involved five separate phases. The first phase, was a Dual Registered Care Home for older people with an adjoining new Chapel to serve the residents of the home and the Sisters residing in the adjacent Convent Buildings, as well as the surrounding community.

The Care Home provides 37 bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms and communal areas for dining, activities and relaxing. The Chapel seats approximately 70 people. The main entrance to the care home and the chapel is from The Butts. A connecting bridge links the new Care Home to the newly refurbished Convent which constituted Phase 2 of the development. The new building was designed within the footprint of the existing buildings, arranged around a central Green. Extensive new landscaping has supplemented the existing trees on the site and enhanced the new development. The Care Home incorporates state of the art facilities for the care of frail older people whilst providing a domestic, supportive and enabling environment for the residents.
